The purpose of the AFGE VA Local 2199 YOUNG Committee is to promote in inclusive empowerment and education of young workers, speak out on issues that are important to workers under 40, and influence public policy to improve the quality of life for young workers and their families as well as engaging seasoned mentors to ensure the longevity of the Federation.

a) Create tools to organize and mobilize young AFGE members to encourage non-members to join AFGE.
b) Encourage mentors over the age of 40 to join the AFGE Y.O.U.N.G. committee to educate and prepare young members for leadership roles.
c) Encourage every Local President to select Y.O.U.N.G. representatives.
d) Include an AFGE Y.O.U.N.G. meeting/training or social event at every major Local event.
