Why Continue to pay union dues?

Stick With Us. You are the Union Members

Union Dues enable our union to continue to function in perilous times such as for our office space off campus, trainings for representation on EEO, MSPB, and Workers Comp Cases. Especially with fighting litigation at the national level to preserve our labor rights, collective bargaining, and contracts. This is happening right now and requires continued funding.

We strongly encourage all members to convert to E-Dues, which allows members to pay the union directly through their bank or credit union. You can find out how to sign up by clicking https://www.afge.org/edues  . Please be aware this is a year contract.

abridged Message from AFGE Local 2199 President: Rob Johnson

Sisters and Brothers,

WE ARE STILL A UNION AND STILL HERE FIGHTING FOR YOU!

Our  AFGE National Attorneys have filed lawsuits in Federal Court, to  address the illegal actions of the Department of Veterans Affairs. Our  2023 Master Agreement and other Union agreements were also terminated by  Secretary Collins. Please hang in there, do your best to comply and  adapt to these changes. I encourage everyone to retain their Union  membership and remain patient while the legal processes have concluded.

During  this time, together our combined voices, efforts, and sheer numbers,  will have a significant greater impact than us being divided. We must  remember that the mission is serving Veterans! We will remain your  leaders and will provide updates to changes as they occur. These updates  will soon be delivered to you via FB, (AFGE Local 2199), INSTAGRAM,  BROADSTRIPES, or our Website. As in year 2020, you will have a right to have us personally represent you until all is resolved. I

  1. The Union still exists and Local 2199 remains required by Presidential EO to only provide representation to the VA police. (This is not fair to all.)
  2. In  year 2020 these similar challenges existed, and we represented  employees, under the law, in a personal capacity only while on leave or  leave without pay.
  3. We just cannot assist you while on duty status.
  4. I have sent out our contact information to all, so that you can reach us if necessary.
  5. Lawsuits have been filed, and we are waiting.
  6. We  are asking you to contact your congressional and Senate Leaders, as  soon as possible and express your displeasure about all of this!
  7. You  are now a non-bargaining unit employee and there is an administrative  Grievance procedure with timelines as with the contract.
  8. You  still have rights and do not let anyone tell you, the people that were  elected to represent you cannot be your personal representative.
  9. We have new office space to work out of currently in Sugarhouse at 2150 South 1300 E Suite 531 right before the freeway on ramp.

The  question for all, is do you want to work in a workplace, where there is  no oversight, representation, or a Union?? Our strength is in our  collective voices, our membership numbers, dues payments for  attorney cost and the opposition wants to see us crumble. Please call  your Congressional and Senate Representatives and help us to stop this  inequity in representation!

Respectfully In Solidarity!

Robert (ROB) J. Johnson, President
